Prolific offender Michael McCafferty was jailed for a year after magistrates were told that he stole handbags from two women in a supermarket out of fear he would be harmed over an unpaid debt.
McCafferty, 54, had borrowed pounds 80 from travellers to buy booze and was expected to pay them pounds 120 by the end Dimmable LED Down Light K1107 - 1x1W / 1x3W of the day for the loan, his solicitor told magistrates at Bedlington Law Courts.

In court he pleaded guilty to two charges of theft and was sentenced to six months' imprisonment on each, to run consecutively.
The magistrates heard that McCafferty had a long record of offences of dishonesty and had been an alcoholic for some time.
