Capture the style of iconic eras with a vintage find VINTAGE bathing suits could be making a splash this summer, with a Lincoln auction house offering a unique chance to show off those beach bodies
After months of summer dieting, dedicated followers of fashion from yesteryear are invited to a sale of vintage clothing, textiles and accessories, including 1940s beachwear. (Laguna Beach).
Beachwear includes a 1940s bathing costume with a sand background, decorated with seashells and fish, a 1960s swimming hat adorned with green and white daisies and a 1940s sun hat, complete with matching bag, made in Chicago
The sale, taking place tomorrow at Thomas Mawer And Son auction house in Portland Street, also includes 1950s day dresses, Victorian mourning costumes and 1970s platform shoes

He said: "Back in March, we asked people to search their wardrobes and attics for quality items that depict an era
"We were overwhelmed by the response

More than 260 lots of women's, men's and children's clothing and costume from the Victorian era through to the 1980s will be included in the sale, which starts at midday
Accessories available include handbags and clutches, shoes, costume jewellery, top hats and bowl-ers, gloves, stockings and underwear, silk shawls and sunglasses
Amy Hill, an assistant vintage clothing supplier from Lincoln, said when buying clothing from yesteryear, shoppers needed to keep an eye out for quality and individuality
She said: "Investing in a piece of vintage clothing is exciting and will inevitably pay off in the long run
"But you need to keep your eyes peeled for the real quality buys There's a lot out there and not all of it is in the best condition
